USS George Washington to arrive at yard in NN for upgrades.

Jan. 28--NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- The USS George Washington aircraft carrier is scheduled to arrive at Northrop Grumman Newport News today for an 11-month stay that includes upgrades to allow the ship to handle new F/A-18 E/F Super Hornet jets.
Work on the Norfolk-based warship, to cost about $185 million, will take 4 million man-hours to complete and also is expected to include such things as replacing decks, repairing doors and ladders, and upgrading flight deck equipment, the Navy said.
