Jan. 27--BANGALORE, India -- At Aero India 2003, standing beside an original GE 404 engine, meant for India's indigenous Light Combat Aircraft (LCA-Tejas), an American engineer from General Electric remarked: "You guys will never be a major aviation force until you develop your own fighter engine."
With India claiming to have bounced back from a nearly three-decade lull in indigenous Military aircraft development, the American engineer was referring to the final frontier...
