THREE months ago a document published by the South African Communist Party urged party loyalists to "nail" President F.W. de Klerk. Its exhortation is already superfluous. Lately Mr de Klerk seems to have been rather good at nailing himself. By common consent his standing at home is lower than at any time since he started his presidency three years ago.
