LAST year the Daily Record's Our Heroes awards proved that Scotland really is a nation to be proud of.

We asked you to nominate the people in your lives who make a difference and you responded in your thousands, telling us touching tales of courage, commitment and self-sacrifice from across the country. Everyone nominated was undoubtedly a hero but sadly there could only be one winner in each category and in the end our panel of judges selected the stories which truly captured the spirit of the awards.
