Jan. 18--In the early 1980s, racquetball was emerging as a top recreational sport for young and old, with many clubs, both public and private, being constructed throughout the nation.

Racquetball, which resembles tennis on a handball court, is played indoors. A small ball is struck by a racquet and can be bounced off one or more walls on the court. It can be played as a singles or doubles sport.
