Tourism gains forecast for Chiang Mai, Thailand.

Jan. 17--CHIANG MAI, Thailand -- The northern capital should enjoy near double-digit growth in tourism spending and arrivals this year, according to Thongchai Wongrianthong, the Chiang Mai deputy governor.

Mr Thongchai met recently with provincial tourism officials to discuss promotions and marketing campaigns for the year, particularly in light of the recent tsunami tragedy in southern Thailand.
