The difference between ink setting and ink drying is explained. Set ink is like set varnish in that it will not rub off easily but is not yet completely dry. Inks which contain oil take longer to set and dry than others. The actual mechanics of ink setting and drying for both sheetfed and web offset presses are presented and diagrammed.
