BOOM! In the early morning of June 17, 1775, Abigail Adams was jolted from sleep. She and her seven-year-old son John Quincy had heard the roar of cannons. They ran outside and to the top of a hill on their Massachusetts farm. They could see smoke and flashes of fire. A battle was raging at nearby Charlestown!
