Dec. 24--REYNOSA, Mexico -- In what could be one of his last actions as Tamaulipas' governor, Tomas Yarrington Ruvalcaba visited the border to officially open the San Fernando Highway.

The new four-lane stretch of Route 97 begins in Ciudad Victoria, Tamaulipas' capital city, and ends in Reynosa. What used to be a two-lane road is now a major highway and part of a much bigger project that will soon connect cities like San Luis Potosi and Mexico City to Reynosa and then Texas and the rest of the United States.
