Dec. 19--A sobering thought flashed through Rene Segelin's mind after a golf ball from San Jose's Los Lagos Golf Course flew across Tuers Road and bored into her right arm months ago.

"If it had hit me on the head," she said, "I'd be on the ground."

Such is the reality for some who live and work next to the city-owned golf course, where for two years the threat of injury has had neighbors warily casting an eye on the par 68 layout when they leave their front doors.
