BIG dogs are being left out in the cold because of celebrities' love of tiny pooches.

Pound bosses say the number of large dogs abandoned has climbed since pop stars and actresses started hugging handbag-sized pets.

And 90 per cent of families looking for a new pet at the pound want a tiny dog.

Alan Grant, assistant manager of the Cardonald Cat and Dog Home in Glasgow, has 135 homeless big dogs.
