The globalisation of so many sectors of commercial activity, and the parallel rapid progress in communications technology, have brought about a marked change in direction for today's international trade fairs.
The move is particularly evident in the Federal Republic of Germany, which is by far the leading centre worldwide for staging trade fairs. Around two thirds of all the leading international trade fairs are staged there.
