Several years ago, with super-duty bricks in hand, longtime potter Joe Passofaro was set to build a wood-fired kiln at his Prior Lake home.

Then, for whatever reason, he hesitated.

"I follow my gut a lot," said the 45-year-old real estate agent. "It just didn't feel like it was right."

What later did feel right was volunteering hundreds of hours and several thousand dollars to build the kiln for Prior Lake High School.
