MAJOR GENERAL JOHN B. CARY

Retired June 30, 1961. Died June 10, 1981.

John Burroughs Cary was born in Emporia, Kan., in 1911 and graduated from high school there in 1927. After attending Kansas State Teachers College, in July 1930 he entered the U.S. Military Academy from which he graduated on June 12, 1934 with a commission as second lieutenant in the Corps of Engineers.

Graduating from Primary and Advanced flying schools in 1935, General Cary was assigned to the 69th Service Squadron at Hamilton Field, Calif., transferring to the Air Corps on ...
