THE traditional Christmas dinner is at risk this year as British cooks face a national shortage of lard.
In Coventry supplies are still getting through to some stores - but many supermarket chains across the country are having to sell customers alternatives.
Supermarkets blame the shortage on the demand from eastern European countries for cheap pork cuts, to make sausages and salami.
Supply difficulties are likely to continue for the next few months...
