ABSTRACT. Weanling albino rats were fed 0-600 mg/kg body weight methyl 1-(butylcarbamoyl)-2-benzimidazolecarbamate (benomyl) for 7 d, and effects on protein, glycogen, and vitamin A constituents were recorded. Doses fed in rat chow were O, 40, 80, 125, 165, 200, 240, 280, 320, 360, 400, 440, 480, 520, 560, and 600 mg/kg body weight. There was a dose-dependent decrease in the concentration of liver constituents, of which glycogen decreased the most. Histopathological findings included cellula...

The effect of a change in body weight on running and responding reinforced by the opportunity to run.
The Psychological Record ; Numerous studies (Baumeister, Hawkins, & Cromwell, 1964; Collier, 1970; Jakubczak, 1967; Moskowitz, 1959; Price, 1976; Sclafani & Rendel, 1978; Treichler & Hall, 1962) have shown that activity increases as body weight decreases with food deprivation. For example, Moskowitz (1959) showed
Body weight set-points: Determination and adjustment
The Journal of Nutrition ; Body Weight Set-Points: Determination and Adjustment1 Richard E. Keesey2 and Matt D. Hirvonen ABSTRACT It is proposed that body weight, like body water and body temperature, is physiologically regulated. In the case of body weight, coordinated adjustments in both the intake and expenditure of
Tipping the social scales: body weight in dating and marriage.
Human Ecology ; In our culture, body weight has shifted from a private, personal concern to a public, Social Issue. Nutritional sociologist Jeffery Sobal is examining how attitudes about body Weight, and body Weight itself, change throughout the life course, particularly in dating and marriage. You've seen them
Association between self-concept and body weight, gender, and pubertal development among male and female adolescents.
Adolescence ; The effects of gender, puberty, and body weight on the self-concept of young adolescents have been addressed in the literature. In studies of Australian (Marsh, 1989) and American (Harter, 1988) adolescents, gender differences in several aspects of self-concept have been found. Marsh reported that

Dosage of intrathecal pethidine and body weight
Anaesthesia and Intensive Care ; Dr Ngan Kee's recent review on intrathecal pethidine highlights an important point that in our opinion warrants further address'. As an allusion to that article, much of the meaningful surgical anaesthesia produced by intrathecal pethidine is due to its local anaesthetic effects on the central
Signaling System for Body Weight
The Washington Post ; Researchers have identified an important signaling system in the brain that helps to control food intake and body weight and that could lead to the development of new drugs to fight obesity. They found the melanocorotin-4 receptor acts as a conductor in rats for leptin, a hormone known to lower
Dynamic Changes of Orexin A and Leptin in Obese Children during Body Weight Reduction
Physiological Research ; Summary In this study, we describe changes of plasma levels of the hypothalamic neuropeptide orexin A in obese children during the reduction of body weight and its relationship to other biochemical and anthropometrical parameters. We measured orexin A fasting plasma levels by the RIA method in 58
