OSHA amends asbestos standards. (Occupational Safety and Health Administration)

OSHA issued a final ruling, May 29 on the regulation of nonasbestiform varieties of asbestos minerals, stating that it cannot justify regulating these mineral dusts as asbestos.

The nonasbestiform minerals--tremolite, anthophyllite and actinolite--have been excluded from coverage under the asbestos standards. OSHA will alternatively regulate these minerals as particulates not otherwise regulated under the OSHA Air Contaminants Standards.
