Nov. 12--An agreement that will provide Tupper Lake with more reliable power and strengthen Lake Placid's electrical network is expected soon through a line that will come from Newton Falls in St. Lawrence County.

"For 30 years, we've been fighting with Niagara Mohawk for a new line," Tupper Lake Mayor Sandra A. Strader said. "Now, I know what they mean by walking on cloud nine."

Tupper Lake and Lake Placid are both municipal systems. They buy electricity from the New York Power Authority that is delivered through a Niagara Mohawk Power Corp. ...
