SUMMARY

Earth history is punctuated by numerous periods during which large volumes of mafic magma were emplaced. Such magmas not generated by a 'normal' spreading ridge or by subduction are termed Large Igneous Provinces (LIPs), and consist of continental flood basalts, volcanic rifted margins, oceanic plateaus, ocean basin flood basalts, submarine ridges, and seamount chains. Associated felsic rocks may also be present. LIPs of Mesozoic and Cenozoic age are typically th...

Molecular Cloning of GA 2-Oxidase3 from Spinach and Its Ectopic Expression in Nicotiana sylvestris1
Plant Physiology ; Previous work has shown that 13-hydroxylated gibberellins (GAs) are predominant in the long-day (LD) plant spinach (Spinacia oleracea; GA^sub 53^, GA^sub 44^, GA^sub 19^, GA^sub 20^, GA^sub 1^, GA^sub 8^, and GA^sub 29 Also present in spinach are 2β-hydroxylated C^sub 20^-GAs: GA^sub 97^,
16,17-Dihydro Gibberellin A^sub 5^ Competitively Inhibits a Recombinant Arabidopsis GA 3[beta]-Hydroxylase Encoded by the GA4 Gene
Plant Physiology ; Ring D-modified gibberellin (GA) A^sub 5^ and A^sub 20^ derivatives are structurally similar to GA^sub 20^ and GA^sub 9^ (the precursors to growth-active GA^sub 1^ and GA^sub 4^) and, when applied to higher plants, especially grasses, can reduce shoot growth with concomitant reductions in levels of
Azospirillum braseilense and Azospirillum lipoferum hydrolyze conjugates of GA (20) and metabolize the resultant aglycones to GA (1) in seedlings of rice dwarf mutants
Plant Physiology ; Azospirillum brasilense and Azospirillum lipoferum Hydrolyze Conjugates of GA^sub20^ and Metabolize the Resultant Aglycones to GA^sub1^ in Seedlings of Rice Dwarf Mutants1 Azospirillum species are plant growth-promotive bacteria whose beneficial effects have been postulated to be partially due to
GA^sub 4^ Is the Active Gibberellin in the Regulation of LEAFY Transcription and Arabidopsis Floral Initiation(W)
Plant Cell ; Flower initiation in Arabidopsis thaliana under noninductive short-day conditions is dependent on the biosynthesis of the plant hormone gibberellin (GA). This dependency can be explained, at least partly, by GA regulation of the flower meristem identity gene LEAFY (LFY) and the flowering time gene

Overexpression of GA Oxidases
Plant Physiology ; The final steps in GA biosynthesis are regulated by cytosolic 2-oxoglutarate-dependent dioxygenases, namely GA 20-oxidase (GA20ox), GA 3-oxidase (GASox), and GA 2-oxidase (GA2ox). GA20ox and GASox are involved in the production of bioactive GA species, whereas GASox plays a role in the deactivation

Activation tagging of a dominant gibberellin catabolism gene (GA 2-oxidase) from poplar that regulates tree stature1
Plant Physiology ; Received January 10, 2003; returned for revision February 21, 2003; accepted March 20, 2003. We identified a dwarf transgenic hybrid poplar (Populus tremula X Populus alba) after screening of 627 independent activation-tagged transgenic lines in tissue culture, greenhouse, and field environments.
