MMICAD's parameter sweep function opens new possibilities for RF and microwave design engineers in designing a varactor diode with linear tuning characteristics. The linearity of voltage-controlled oscillators is dictated by the varactor diode tuning characteristic. In the past, this parameter was not within the control of the design engineer, which meant working around whatever tuning curve was the closest to the desired design.
