The World Bank has expanded the scope of the Sind urban development programme (SUDP) to include development across the entire province. The project will be one of the largest schemes to be undertaken in Pakistan by the bank and will involve an estimated $600 million-700 million of bank funding. The scheme has been renamed the Sind special development programme (SSDP). A senior level team, including federal government ministers, are to visit Washington in May or June to finalise details of the expanded plan with the bank, a bank official says.
