Byline: Frank Herron Staff writer
During one particularly bleak weekend about four years ago, singer Niki Lee decided to watch a video.
Times were rough.
"I was hitting a downward slide," recalls Lee, who is in her early 40s.
She popped a copy of "Mrs. Parker and the Vicious Circle" (starring Jennifer Jason Leigh) into a video machine.
When it was over, Lee rewound it and watched it again.
She was so inspired by the film and by the life and words of Dorothy Parker that she wrote 15 songs in a week.
