To the Editor: The recent IGTI gas turbine conference in Vienna, Austria, (ASME Turbo Expo '04, June 14-17) provided a unique graveyard opportunity for me.

Some forty years ago, I had taken a statistical thermodynamics course at Stanford University with Professor Walter Vincenti. In class, Vincenti had derived the famous Boltzmann relation, S = k log W which relates the entropy, S, of a gas to the Boltzmann constant, k, and W, the number of possible microstates for gas molecules.
