    SAN FRANCISCO, July 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Sierra Club praised the introduction of a legislative amendment today by Sen. Alan Cranston (D, Calif.) that would protect the Sierra Nevada's dwindling ancient forests from logging and other destructive development during a scientific study of the range.
