OMETEPE ISLAND, Nicaragua _ An island of dusty dirt roads, small brick houses and wandering livestock would not seem to have much in common with one of the Puget Sound area's most affluent communities.
But the coffee bean has helped forge an enduring bond between Bainbridge Island, Wash., and this rugged tropical outpost in the middle of Lake Nicaragua.
