Apr. 24--Kansas City Southern Industries Inc. and Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway Co. on Tuesday announced a marketing alliance to increase the movement of certain commodities on the two railroads.

The agreement will make it easier for customers to get shipping rates for cargo that moves on both railroads, said Matt Rose, Burlington Northern's chief executive officer.
