In applications like circuit boards, design engineers have been limited in how components get mounted to the board, generally resulting in multiple reflow processes. If a component can't take the heat, it has to be mounted at the end. But, if it's a high performance component, needing, perhaps, gold-tin solder to be mounted, suddenly, the device goes to the front of the line for mounting, now risking heat damage. When the cost of the component is 90 percent of the board, ruin is not part of the equation.
