Although few people have actually seen a mole, they are relatively common pests in North America. Reliable estimates find 50 million single-family homes in the US and Canada are located in mole-prone areas, plus 5 million businesses that maintain lawns on their property. Large areas of parks, cemeteries and recreational turf across the country suffer mole damage each year. If the total economic toll from moles could be calculated, it would be in the millions of dollars.
