Michael L. Douglas is the first Black Supreme Court justice in Nevada's 140-year history. Douglas, 56, was appointed to replace Justice Myron Leavitt, who died earlier in the year. Prior to his history-making appointment, Douglas sewed as chief judge of the eighth judicial district for the state of Nevada.
