Despite funding constraints that have delayed the restoration of the Lopez Adobe and kept it closed all but one day a month, officials want to open two more museums, fueling a debate over how to showcase the city's rich history.
After years of fund-raising efforts, the city and preservation groups have managed to collect only half of the $750,000 needed to restore the Lopez Adobe, a two-story Spanish-style home built in 1882 that now houses the city's only museum.
