May 22--With the Caspian region's famed caviar industry collapsing because of depleted fisheries, producers are turning to the United States to meet global demands for the expensive fish delicacy.

But a study released Wednesday says that the caviar trade could push several North American fish species toward extinction. They include nine species of sturgeon --- several of which are native to the South --- and their cousin the paddlefish...
