The University of Warwick has been named as the top university in the Midlands.

It has won the accolade in The Sunday Times University Guide 2004, which has it top of the local league and seventh - an improvement of one place on last year's placing - in the national table.

Warwick, which has ten students applying for every place and where last year's average A-level attainment of AAB was close to Oxbridge levels, has never been out of the guide's top ten universities in the UK since the league table began in 1997. The guide ...
