Playing sports in school is a privilege, not a right, which is why the Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools was right to turn down a home-schooled student's request to play middle school baseball.

But the school board went further last month, making a debatable decision to bar home-schooled children from all classroom and extracurricular activities.
