Only "those in the know" will understand why the title of this excellent book is so clever. King asserts on page 1 that, as a distinct religious movement with a single origin and clearly defined characteristics, there is no such thing as gnosticism. As a construct used to define the boundaries of normative Christianity, however, gnosticism thrives.
