Antwerp slept for a time. At least, when it came to flee, a curtain dropped over this grand old ort city, one of Europes" historic trading centers. When colonial ties broke with major African origins, when the Belgium coffee retail market began to decline, when coffee trading began its long slow slip into the doldrums--then the coffee city on the Schelde fell under a spell of sad slumber.
