Today's legend is Springside Inn. How did it come about?
More than 200 years ago, at the foot of Owasco Lake, the Cayuga Indians fished and hunted for game. The lake itself is named from the Indian word for "crossing."
The stronghold of the tribe was located at what is now Emerson Park. The Indians walked the quarter mile to get their drinking water from the "great spring," now in the area of the pond in Springside's front lawn.
