Mystery Pen Pals Invite students to make classmate connections through the mail! Begin by giving each student a numbered mailbox: You can use cubbies with numbers, or create a shoebox mail station. (For each box: cut a slit in one of the short sides for mail delivery, and remove the opposite side, for mail pickup.) Then invite students to write friendly, but anonymous, letters describing themselves and their interests. Mail each "mystery letter" to a numbered box. Students will love deciphering the clues to identify and learn all about the authors of their letters.
