NEW YORK -- The flannel loungewear market is jumping to the beat of sportswear.
Lighter-weight fabrications and sportier silhouettes are transforming formerly basic boxer and tops businesses into lively categories that can alternate as streetwater.
Higher-quality constructions and competitive sourcing from Portugal and the Far East are making flannels more appealing, manufacturers say.
With expanded lines featuring new classifications, company executives quote flannel sales increases of up to 200 percent from last fall.
