NEW YORK -- Samuel Moore Walton, founder and chairman of one of the nation's largest and consistently profitable retailers, died early Sunday morning at the age of 74, in University Hospital in Little Rock, Ark. He had multiple myeoloma, a form of bone cancer.
A private service will be held for the family.
