Deepening Job Cuts Take Toll on Ford's White Collar Workers.

Jan. 12--Ford Motor Co. will cut at least 1,500 more white-collar workers as part of the long-awaited restructuring plan announced Friday. If enough workers don't accept a buyout, Ford would force some employees out the door.

The automaker already has eliminated about 3,500 white-collar jobs under a voluntary buyout program announced in August and through other cost-cutting steps. The company plans to extend that voluntary program to reach its goal of 5,000 white-collar job cuts, Ford Chief Operating Officer Nick Scheele said Friday.
