Jan. 9--KISSIMMEE, Fla.--Faced with a recession that threatens county coffers, Osceola County commissioners are asking whether the $173,000 a year they pay a regional group to bring new jobs to the area has brought any results.

Osceola spends $1 per resident to be part of the Economic Development Commission of Mid-Florida, which works to bring industries such as biomedical firms, film companies and international exporters to a four-county region that also includes Orange, Lake and Seminole.
