Milwaukee County Leader's Payout Tops Ex-Presidents' Pensions.

Jan. 9--Tom Ament's face might not make its way to Mount Rushmore, but if he ends up getting that pension deal that the County Board approved 14 months ago, he can look down his nose at former presidents Reagan, Ford, Carter, Bush and Clinton.

If the plan stays as is and the Milwaukee County executive retires in 2008 -- without taking the lump sum payment of more than $2 million -- he would be getting nearly $20,000 a year more than the five surviving former presidents each receive. Ament's payout under the deal that was approved could total about $186,000 annually. The former ...
