The Bessemer Group is establishing a wide area network (WAN) that will use routers to link local area networks (LAN). Local segments of the WAN will be connected by T1, and circuits that do not justify full T1 will be connected with fractional T1 (F-T1). The change is expected to allow the group to expand customer services while significantly reducing costs. In addition, Bessemer will be able to utilize their current mainframe system more efficiently.
