Apr. 25--New Mexico tourism is in great shape.

That's what LaNelda Rolley, deputy secretary of the New Mexico Department of Tourism, concluded at a luncheon on Tuesday.

More than 200 people gathered at the Third Annual Rural Tourism Conference sponsored by Rural Economic Development Through Tourism at the Mesilla Valley Inn.

Rolley, the guest speaker at the luncheon, spoke on the state of tourism in New Mexico.

"New Mexico is a survivor in the tourism picture," she said. "After the events of Sept. 11, we are one state that is seeing ...
