A new Fortran language compiler that automatically optimizes programs for execution on computers with massively parallel processor architectures has been announced by Digital Equipment Corp. DECmpp FORTRAN automatically divides user programs into parallel and scalar components. It runs on the DECmpp 12000 Series computer, which can put up to 16,384 processors to work simultaneously.
