MUCH of the modern-day country music coming out of Nashville was influenced by the Carter family with their highly distinctive Appalachian folk styles during the depression years of the 1920s, '30s and '40s.
The family, which the late Johnny Cash married into, feature in a new hour-long documentary produced by Nashville Public Television, titled The Carter family: An American Experience.
