Sometimes it's called Greenwich Mean Time or World Time. Those of us with military or aviation experience may be used to calling it Zulu time.

Whatever the handle you put on it, the Universal Time Coordinated (UTC) system makes it easy to reference what time it is anywhere in the world.

UTC is fairly simple in design and elegant in function, and is used by satellite service providers, the military, network management software, amateur radio operators, short-wave listeners and many more groups.
