Jun. 18--The University of Central Florida will open the nation's second doctoral program in high-tech modeling and simulation this fall, part of an effort to spur technology into a more significant part of the region's economy.

UCF's move capitalizes on the burgeoning simulation industry that has flourished near the east Orange County campus in recent years.

"Already, the Orlando area is one of the top three places in the modeling and simulation field," said Steve Branch, director of the San Diego-based Society for Modeling and Simulation ...
