Jul. 29--NEW KENT, Va.--For once, Rhythmn Magic didn't fade. The little-noted Virginia steed stayed in the pack for 5 furlongs and then, most uncharacteristically, bolted past rivals down the stretch to eke out his first win.

So ended the final race of the 26-day thoroughbred season at Colonial Downs last Tuesday evening.
