CHICAGO _ If Chicago's talk-radio punching bags meet at home plate before Friday's White Sox-Cubs game, they may shake hands, embrace and start crying on each other's shoulders.

Sox manager Jerry Manuel hasn't had to endure the same wall-to-wall chatter about job security as his Cubs' counterpart. But the recent Sox malaise, combined with some unsuccessful pitching maneuvers, has put Manuel under the microscope for the first time in his managerial career.
